Oakley Bros smoked bacon available at HG Stratton
Oakley Brothers is a traditional, family run business based in Westening. They produce some of the finest smoked bacon in the country.
The smoke house has been operating since 1870, and started with John's Great Grandfather, Albert Oakley. The family originally came from Tottenham, starting on the market stalls in Luton. John did a farming course and then joined at the Smoke house.
Their smoker uses oak sawdust from a local source. The sawdust is put into the smoker and lit and then it has water dripping on it all the time to create the smoke. The smoke travels up the chimney and into the smoke house. The process takes about 6/7hours.
